For years, ordinary questions to black and brown friends, colleagues and neighbours about their families and heritage have been treated as proof that we are all inherently racist, and questioning that got you called far right. Then Miriam Margolyes goes on ITV to promote a book about the far right and speaks to Andi Peters in a way that would have got anyone else taken off air. If Little Britain had written a racist grandma character, this would have been it.
