I am announcing an agreement with Denmark and Greenland that, as I understand it, gives the United States permanent control over Greenland’s security at no cost to the United States. It would bar adversaries from establishing military bases, maintaining a military presence, or making sensitive investments there without American approval. The agreement also calls for a larger U.S. military presence developed with Greenlanders. I see it as a lasting strategic gain for the United States, Denmark, Greenland, and our allies.
