Dear HBO, Damon Lindelof, and Vanessa Baden Kelly: please stop telling me how hard it's been for me to succeed as a black man in America. I went to good schools. I did the work. I got good grades and good jobs. Nobody had to rewrite the laws so I could get ahead. We have black millionaires, entertainers, educators, lawyers, scientists, and doctors. We can succeed if we apply ourselves. My aunt, Patti LaBelle, is proof of that. Stop holding black people back with your negativity.
