Metacritic sits at 77 from over 100 critics, OpenCritic at 80. IGN, GameSpot and GamesRadar+ each gave 6/10; ScreenHub and Hardcore Gamer gave 10.
The comparison
Insomniac's Spider-Man games scored 87, 85 and 90. Kotaku calls this Sony's lowest-rated first-party PS5 game, below Sackboy at 79; trackers call it Insomniac's lowest since 2016.
The reaction
Fans are folding it into this week's PlayStation anger over discs and Kojima. Both readings are live: "fine game, wrong expectations" and "PlayStation is getting L after L".
