The payment
Meta will pay at least $12.1 billion over ten years. Another $5 billion depends on other major platforms reaching similar state settlements.
Teen limits
Users under 18 would face a two-hour daily limit across Facebook and Instagram, overnight restrictions, fewer notifications and stronger age checks.
What it resolves
The agreement settles state claims that Meta used addictive design and misled the public about youth safety. It is a proposed settlement, not a trial verdict.
