Tarik Skubal beat Detroit in his first return as a Dodger.
The former Tigers ace allowed one run over six innings as Los Angeles won 2–1 at Comerica Park.
- The start: Skubal allowed four hits, struck out seven and walked none. He retired 12 straight batters after a leadoff double before Detroit scored in the fifth.
- The return: Detroit welcomed him with a tribute video and standing ovation. Skubal had spent seven years with the Tigers and won two AL Cy Young Awards there.
- The trade context: The Tigers traded Skubal to Los Angeles on August 2 for three prospects. Freddie Freeman's eighth-inning single supplied the winning run Friday.
